Nigel Bradshaw started Dancezone in 2001, building a huge amount of support from the children and adults over the years. Dancezone became a family of dancers, arriving at competitions with a coach full of children and their parents, a dance school raring to go! We would all support the area festivals in Bournemouth, Hove, Bracknell, Portslade & Leicester hoping to qualify for the annual Grand Finals at The Blackpool Tower or the The Winter Gardens.
Nigel Bradshaw
Nigel’s parents sent him to children's classes when he was just 4 years old (to get some peace and quiet apparently!). He, like the pupils he teaches today at his dance school, worked his way through the Medallist circuit, gaining many achievements along the way.
At 9 years old he met Jean. Little did he know that he would go on to achieve many prestigious titles with Jean. They competed on the Medalist circuit for a while, then moved into Junior Open circuit and progressed through Novice, Intermediate, Pre-Champ and Amateur. The highlight of their competitive career was winning the UK Closed Championship in 1985. Jean then decided to retire from competitive dancing the very next day. Nigel took time out from the dancing scene for a while, but missed it too much, so returned to dance classes in Bournemouth. His teacher at the time then questioned why he didn’t teach? He shadowed his teacher for a year, gaining teaching tips and learning how to run a successful dance school.
Nigel took his ISTD Associate Teacher exams in 1995. He has gained a reputation of excellence within the dance scene, with many of his pupils now appearing in West End shows, performing on Cruise ships and winning National and International titles within Ballroom and Latin. Nigel is passionate about dancing and his love for Ballroom and Latin is shared with his pupils and fellow teachers.
In 2018 Dancezone changed its name to Dancezone Academy. Nigel is supporting Dancezone Academy teachers
towards achieving their next professional exams.
In recent years Nigel has found great pride in competing in the Same sex & Equality circuit. He enjoys coaching solos & couples for competitions.
